Case study
University of East London: a career-first Business & Law School

UEL's Business & Law School asked for support to strengthen graduate outcomes and create a more systematic, scalable and coordinated, student-centred approach to employability and positive graduate outcomes. With a diverse student population, large cohorts and complex pressures on both students and staff, the School needed a strategy that was practical, scalable and culturally resonant.
My role
Working closely with Faculty leadership, Careers & Enterprise, Programme Directors and students, I led a discovery and design process that brought together data, lived experience and best practice from across the sector. This included:
- A full review of graduate outcomes, engagement patterns and underemployment hotspots.
- Interviews with academics, senior leaders, industry and careers teams.
- Student sounding boards across year groups and demographics.
- External benchmarking with leading employability institutions.
The work balanced structural clarity with cultural care, recognising the emotional, financial and social barriers that shape student confidence and access to opportunities.
What we built
The resulting strategy centred on practical, actionable priorities that spanned culture, leadership, and industry connectivity.
The work created a unified direction for the School, with inbuilt collaboration between departments, and provided a practical roadmap for curriculum integration, employer engagement and student support.
The impact
The roadmap continues to be operationalised. UEL are proudly the fastest rising university in England for graduate employability, and this work ensures that consistency and momentum School-wide.
